Food Appreciation Post Part 2

Happy new year!  We are still in Koh Lanta!  Living the life of ease on scooters and eating some of the best food in Thailand …..so far.  We’re venturing north on Saturday and will send an update of NYE and the past week but until then I present…more food:

Stir Fried chicken and garlic

Pad Thai (of course - had this multiple times)

After a harrowing drive down a side road and wondering if Scott was leading me into some version of hell we pulled up to a lovely cafe in the middle of the jungle that served a plethora of desserts & coffees and teas.  The couple had an incredible lush garden with giant shells everywhere, a cat and fancy duck that didn’t seem to mind each other, and a mysterious skull in the garden that, when I asked about it, was informed was likely a dolphin skull that the owner had collected on the beach - very cool!

After ordering our desserts, we sat on some small camp chairs and the husband brought over these mysterious green stalks held together with small sticks that were hot.  Inside was a mix of palm sugar, coconut and gummy rice flour - delicious!

Cheesecake & carrot cake in the jungle!

Pattaya Fried Rice - an omelette filled with minced chicken, savory sauce & veg

Stir fried young kale with salted fish

Baby eggplants at the market

Avocado honey smoothie

Rad Na - pork & flat noodles with veg in a hot sweet gravy

Fried Rice vermicelli noodles

How curry paste is bought in the markets  - if you stand in the right place you can bathe in the smell…

Fried basil leaves with pork

Steamed fish with ginger and morning glory (type of spinach)

After a slight miscommunication and a moment of me being a grumpy tourist, we got this beautiful freshly carved pineapple that was split into 4 spears and we ate them with some big toothpicks after a long scooter ride.

Off to Chiang Mai on Saturday - xo
